I recently toured two DRB Homes communities — Clayton Crossing in Arden and The Wilds east of Asheville — and they demonstrate exactly why location and lifestyle matter just as much as the home itself.

Clayton Crossing: New Construction in Arden

Clayton Crossing is located in Arden, giving residents convenient access to many of the places that make South Asheville attractive.

The community is close to I-26, Biltmore Park Town Square, Asheville Regional Airport, and the retail and services found throughout the Arden and South Asheville corridor.

Outdoor recreation is also nearby, including Bent Creek, the North Carolina Arboretum, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and access to the French Broad River.

For someone who values convenience and easy connections to work, shopping, travel, recreation, and Asheville itself, that location can be a meaningful part of the decision.

The Wilds: Mountain Living East of Asheville

The Wilds offers a distinctly different experience.

Set east of Asheville near the Old Charlotte Highway area, the community combines new construction with wooded surroundings and mountain views.

I know this area personally because I lived nearby for several years — first in a condo and later in a home farther up the mountain.

What I enjoyed was the combination of proximity to Asheville and a more relaxed, peaceful setting.

You can reach I-40 and I-240 quickly, yet the area can still feel removed from the pace of the city.

The Wilds also stands out for its amenities. The community includes recreational spaces designed to encourage activity and interaction among neighbors, including courts, a playground and additional planned amenities.

Builder plans, amenities, availability and completion dates can change. Any renderings shown in the video are identified as renderings and should be verified directly with the builder.

Same Builder. Very Different Lifestyle.

That is what makes these two communities interesting to compare.

The builder may be the same, but the lifestyle decision is not.

Clayton Crossing may appeal to someone who places a high value on the convenience and accessibility of Arden and South Asheville.

The Wilds may resonate with someone drawn to mountain scenery, nature, neighborhood amenities and a quieter setting east of Asheville.
